One of its defining features is our acclaimed CRYO-DRIVE™ technology, engineered to reduce operational temperatures, significantly prolonging the ESC's lifespan. Moreover, equipped with an impressive 8-amp BEC, the Cobra 8 can effortlessly power the most demanding servos, making it an indispensable ally in your high-performance setup.

We’ve packaged the Cobra 8 with three different Castle 4 -POLE 12-SLOT motor options to overpower a wide range of 1:8th scale vehicles.

MOTOR

5 mm shaft Castle 1717 1650KV motor with a 4 pole 12 slot design.

This motor is designed for high EFFICIENCY and REDUCED HEAT output.

This model offers sensored capability while maintaining the characteristics that made earlier versions popular. It is suitable for 1/8 and 1/7 scale vehicles up to 20 lbs operating on 6s to 8s LiPo. It is also a strong option for users seeking a reliable, high torque motor for demanding 8s applications for their 1/8 scale vehicle. Operating modes include sensored and an ULTRA EFFICIENT sensorless operation.

When paired with a compatible Castle ESC, many users take advantage of the advanced tuning features available through Castle Link. The system allows adjustments specifically intended for sensored motors, offering fine control over throttle response, braking, and power delivery.

SMARTSENSE™ uses the motor’s sensors during startup to provide smooth launches, strong low speed torque, and consistent drivability. After the motor reaches speed, the system transitions to a high efficiency sensorless mode. Since load conditions change throughout a run, electronic timing automatically adjusts to support both performance and efficiency. Mechanical timing alone cannot adapt in this way.

When this motor is paired with a Castle sensored ESC, the system is capable of precise throttle response, smooth starts, strong performance output, and efficient operation across the throttle range. The goal is a power system that feels powerful but controllable, with the potential for longer run times when geared appropriately.
